Case Study – Tom Young

March 11, 2017

Tom Young is a father of two and a seasoned entrepreneur with three companies under his belt. Although his first business endeavor failed and it took him some time to bounce back, Tom has since gained success with two different companies. Why has he turned to Six Figure Profession? Here’s Tom’s story.

Life Before Six Figure Profession

Tom has always had an entrepreneurial spirit. His first experience with business came as a young man when he started a commercial window cleaning company. But things quickly went south—the business failed and Tom spent a couple of years paying back the money and recovering from the loss.

Rather than being put off by this bad first experience in business, Tom persevered. A few years after the window cleaning company, he was living in Alaska and decided to start a direct mail company called Good Deal Magazine. This business saw quick success, competing with the top direct mail companies in the area. But the cold Alaska weather was too much for Tom. “I couldn’t see myself spending the rest of my days in Alaska. As much as I loved the summers there, the winters drove me crazy!” Tom ultimately made the move back to his hometown of Boise, Idaho and sold his interest in the company to his business partner.

His return to Boise didn’t interfere with Tom’s entrepreneurial drive, however, and he soon started a web design company—Key Design Websites. Now nine years later, Tom continues to experience success with Key Design Websites, which he runs to this day.

As a business owner, Tom often meets new people, one of which introduced him to Six Figure Profession. However, Tom admitted that he wasn’t completely sold on the idea at first. “I wasn’t super interested at that moment in time. I had heard of the company before, but I just didn’t think that it would be a good fit.” But in November 2016, Tom met with another Six Figure Profession team member—and he was sold. Compared to the overhead and demands of a traditional brick and mortar business like his web design company, Tom saw that Six Figure Profession offered a refreshing alternative: “There was no way I could deny that it was an amazing opportunity.”

Taking Back Control

“I gave it a shot and was really impressed by everything,” Tom explained. However, soon after starting with the team, he took his girlfriend on vacation to Australia, which slowed down his transition into the business. But after meeting with more people on the Six Figure Profession team upon his return, he “really started diving into the opportunity,” even though he still harbored a bit of doubt. “Honestly, I was looking for the chink in the armor, if you will—I was still looking for the reason why I shouldn’t do it.” But, he shared, “I really scrutinized it, every aspect, and I just felt that I couldn’t deny what a wonderful opportunity it was.”

Tom also drew inspiration from the people he saw involved with Six Figure Profession. “I saw an amazing group of people involved in this, people from all walks of life—doctors, professionals, pharmaceutical reps, teachers, and so on—all jumping on board and being really successful.” Tom got his first customer with Six Figure Profession in early January 2017, teaming up with his girlfriend Jen to make nearly $2,500 in their first month. He has since doubled his monthly income, and his business is already growing quickly.

Living Life on His Own Terms

Although he’s only been with Six Figure Profession for a few months, the entrepreneur in Tom is motivated by his and Jen’s initial success and is excited for the possibilities. “We’re building something amazing together. I’ve been running a brick and mortar business for nine years now. It’s a highly competitive business, and we’ve never really gotten past that apex point. But all that isn’t an issue with Six Figure Profession.”

He’s also noticed that his excitement about Six Figure Profession has positively affected his web design business. “One of the things I would say about my web design company is that we’ve done better around here since I’ve been very enthusiastic about something (Six Figure Profession).”

Long term, Tom would like to transition Six Figure Profession from a “side gig” to his full-time business. “I’d love to transition over completely. My first goal is to grow my business to where it’s sustainable. I’d love to do this full time.” He also loves the fulfillment it brings, “I absolutely see this as being—without question—exactly what I want to do because it’s a lot of fun. I’ve helped people change their lives and had a big impact on them. And I’m very proud of what we offer.”

Tom also loves the cooperative nature of the Six Figure Profession model. “In the web design world, I don’t want to see competitors succeed like I want to see the people who are on my Six Figure Profession team succeed, so it’s a whole different dynamic. It has a lot of built-in loyalty.”

Tom and Jen have goals for their personal lives as well. “We have a goal to replace our income together so that we can not only work this business, but get married eventually. It’s nothing that we’re going to do tomorrow, but I’ve met so many people who have built a sustainable business in six months, that I think it’s very doable.” They’d also love to pay off the house that Jen owns and get completely out of debt. “We both love to travel. To be in a business that you can run from anywhere is pretty exciting. So we’ll be doing as much of that as we possibly can.”

Six Figure Profession has also turned into a family affair, with Tom’s oldest daughter, who is now 26 years old and married, also getting involved. “Having her join us in building this business is a lot of fun!” he admitted.

Tom’s Advice for Other Business People

Tom shared that he wants other business men and women to know that there is always room for improvement. He has enjoyed success and flexibility with his businesses over the years, but he recognizes that with Six Figure Profession, the possibilities for complete financial and personal freedom are endless. “I love the web design business and it’s fun, but what I’ve seen in this opportunity is absolutely amazing!”
